These are the eight crazy things expected to happen before the year 2050:
Hyperloopis a vacuum and magnetic-powered tube which is the biggest innovation in the world of transportation and traveling. It was initially proposed by Elon Musk, and recently itmade a significant stride through Virgin Hyperloop One that has been running tests in the desserts of Nevada. The expectation on this technologyis that it can easily run at a speed of 760 miles per hour, faster than modern airplanes.
Mission to Mars
It is guaranteed that either Space X or Mars One is expected to make it with their One-way Trip Plan to Mars anytime soon. Both companies have set their goals to launch the mission to Mars in 2024, with the expectation to reach the red planet by 2025. This race has allowed significant improvements in rocket and spacecraft technology.
Internet of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) is something that many companies are trying to create. It involves making appliances and electronic devices, including cars and houses, smart and able to communicate with each another. Pretty much how Alexa and Google Home are able to pair up with your house appliances, and able to take up and do ordinary and mundane things, something that humans won’t have to worry about.
Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, more jobs were already taken over by machines. Some workers were able to adjust and find new jobs/career with the entry of new technology, but some were left behind. At the rate of the progress of robotics, many jobs are at risk to be taken over by machines, almost any job imaginable even transportation operators like truck drivers, and white-collar jobs, like software engineers and bankers. Artificial intelligence makes robots learn and perform practically anything with its progress.
Space tourism is no longer a long shot with the continuous effort of companies like Virgin Galactic, SpaceX, and Blue Origin, which are already sellingtickets for space tours. These plannedexcursionsareno longer exclusive for astronauts, but for average people who can afford it. With these types of trips, people can see the possibility of many space-paced vacation like hotels in space and weekend trips to the Moon.
Bye Bye Coal
At the burning rate of our coal resources, living on renewable energy becomes a necessity for us to survive in the near future. We can rely on several different types of energy sources like wind, geothermal, hydropower and solar panels among others. This transition is expected to reduce the demand for energy around the world, improve economics and save resources due to the reduction in pollution, healthcare cost, and fighting climate change.
It is expected that one day, sooner that we think, 3D printing can build livable houses like how it was done in 2017 by a small start-up company in San Francisco when it built a 400-sq. ft. home in Russia using 3D printer. It only took them 24 hours to complete the project. By 2050, it will not be a surprise to see apartment complexes, townhouses, even skyscrapers built via 3D printing. It is cheap, fast and the limitations of materials are much less compared to the current building materials we have now. They can also make designs that can withstand various natural disasters like hurricanes and tornados.
Go-Go Gadget Arm
With the advancement of technology, we now have replacement hands that can function like a real arm. It can grip and perform tasks with the dexterity of a natural hand. It is the same thing with artificial legs that can allow a person to run faster than an average man. The vision is the possibility of having limbs that can be modified with the addition of tools that fit to the person’s occupation or hobby. It is not a far fetched thought that these limbs can have gadgets and tools that can be interchangeable, or maybe, “weaponized” as we go closer to creating a “super human”.
This list is by no means exchaustive. There are many more trends and developments that are taking shape world over and the times are exciting and uncertain at the same time.
Some might sound crazy and some impressive, but fact of the matter is that we are on the cusp of massive changes, changes we have never seen before in history and that is the natural course of evolution.
